The latest media-manufactured controversy surrounding President-Elect Trump involves Congressman John Lewis, who won’t be attending the inauguration because he believes that Mr. Trump will be an illegitimate president. (He reportedly believed the same about George W. Bush.)

President Donald Trump wasted no time getting to work on Friday night, heading straight to the Oval Office where he signed his first executive orders since arriving at the White House.
He christened the Resolute Desk by signing an order to confirm General James Mattis as Secretary of Defense and another order to 'ease the burden of Obamacare'.
He has already made changes to the Oval Office decor, swapping its formerly crimson drapes for gold c

Less than an hour after the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump, the new administration outlined on the White House website its energy policy, which aims to focus on gas and oil, and reviving the coal industry.

It also indicates the Climate Action Plan, introduced in 2013, will be scrapped.

The use of a military jet for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s two-week family vacation on the Aga Khan’s private island pumped about as much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as the average emitted per capita in Canada each year.

Trudeau’s use of the Challenger to fly his family and a nanny from Ottawa to Nassau, Bahamas over the New Year holiday and back consumed about 9,100 litres of jet fuel, according to the Department of National Defenc

Forget the Notley NDP government for just 10 minutes, if you can.

Read this column and it may remind you why, not so long ago, you were disgusted with the PC establishment, the movers and shakers of Toryland.

The story is simple.

President Trump signed an executive order Monday barring federal tax dollars going to foreign organizations that perform abortions or promote them, reinstating the “Mexico City Policy” that President Obama rescinded when he was in office.

The policy has been put in place by Republicans in the Oval Office — including Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush — and rolled back by subsequent Democratic presidents.

The federal NDP has scheduled a leadership debate for early March, even though there are still no official candidates to lead the party.

Still, NDP national director Robert Fox expects at least a few contestants will appear at an Ottawa hotel March 12. “There’s no question in my mind we’ll have a good array of candidates available on that stage.”

Back in December I had an article about the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command or CANSOFCOM purchasing new ultra light combat vehicles (ULCVs).

Polaris Industries of the U.S. has been awarded the contract for the $20 million project to deliver 78 such vehicles.

The vehicles would mainly be used for off-road travel.

After publishing photos of the ULCVs, I started receiving more than a few emails from readers pointing out that the

For the past 96 hours, Rep. John Lewis's decision to not attend Donald Trump's inauguration Friday has been cast as the beating heart of a large-scale protest movement against the businessman-turned-politician. Lewis's status as a civil rights icon and Trump's baffling attempts to suggest that the Georgia Democrat is more talk than action have only fueled the idea of Lewis as the last principled man in Washington.

Will the Alberta Progressive Conservative party dare to kick out Jason Kenney at this late point in the chaotic leadership race?

The PC board members just might just do it.

The fight for the old party is no longer political. It’s existential.

Does the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta, winner of 12 straight elections, simply follow Kenney’s prescription and vote itself out of existence, or fight on with its own identity?

Former finance minister Joe Oliver is the latest federal Conservative to lose a bid to run for Patrick Brown’s provincial Tories in next year’s election.

Oliver, 76, was trounced Sunday in the York Centre nomination contest by upstart lawyer Roman Baber.

Baber, 36, who was born in Russia and came to Canada from Israel at age 15, beat the Tory titan by 711 to 465 votes.

A high-profile example is U.S.-based Netflix, which does not apply federal or provincial sales taxes to monthly billings sent to Canadian customers for its streaming service.
